Career Planning: Preparing for the Future

The Florida Department of Education's new A Plus Plus Plan requires that all students entering ninth grade in 2007 declare majors and minors, just as college students do. Pinellas County 8th grade students will be taking a career planning survey this year through the Choices Explorer website to assist them in the decision. Learn more about it in the St. Petersburg Times article, A Teach-In Test Drive.

Before selecting a high school, 8th grade students can view the Pinellas County Schools' High School Programs Locator to find schools that offer programs in careers that fit their interests and skills.

There are lots of resources to help with the process. Start with a Career Path Planning Guide for Students & Parents.
